‘N-word’ Sited, Possibly Resurrected in Cameroon

Douala, Cameroon - In an elaborate ceremony featuring a horse-drawn carriage and pinewood box, the “n-word” was buried in a mock funeral by the NAACP in Chicago on July 10th, 2007.
“Die N-word, die,“ exclaimed Mayor Kwame Kilpatrick. “We don’t want to see you ‘round here no more.“
‘N-word’ is the politically correct adaptation for the racial slur “nigger”, which has been used to demean Blacks and persons of African decent for centuries. It’s a hateful and painful word.
The word was symbolically buried by members of the African-American community to mark the cessation of its use in popular culture and in day-to-day communication. Despite cruelly burying the word alive, it has managed to resurrect itself in the most unlikely of places: The bustling port city of Douala.
Officials aren’t sure, but locals were pretty certain that Pierre Adjatay was heard calling Paul Ahidjo a “beech neegah” when he cut him off in line at a local ice-cream parlor. Because the populace is francophone, it’s truly difficult to ascertain whether or not the word “nigger” was uttered, due to differences in accent and inflection.
To dig up the truth, MaizeBreak tracked down Adjatay and asked him if he knew the offensive word had been buried. He chose to speak in English to make his point very clear.
“Vwat is this you speak of?“ he asked. His indignation was unmasked. “We have had no such noteeese of neegah being buried!“
We described the funeral and that the n-word was indeed dead and not meant to be used, per the NAACP. Pierre sniffed. He speculates possible discrimination as the reason the francophone community has not been informed.
“Vwell, they should dew a better zjob of informing the vrest of es,“ he asserts. “We have received no such noteese of a burial or death. Non, no news storees came to es. Perhaps they told them on the Englaise side of Cameroon. Vhat we did receive was the latest copy of the 50 Cent album, available on street corners now…Neegah.“
He ended his tirade by flashing a meaningless but elaborate gang sign.
