Fufu Joins List of Sexy Foods

West Africa - Like strawberries and cream or raw oysters, fufu has joined the world of sexy food dishes in 2008. Fufu is a dish commonly enjoyed by people indigenous to West Africa, but with globalization, it has now been shared with the US, England, Australia, and any other place Diasporans plant their feet.

Fufu shares common properties with other so called “sexy dishes”. Why, the very process of its creation is a re-enactment act of love making. Generally, a man takes a mighty stick (a pestle) and repeatedly mashes yam and/or plantain in a mortar below. Gyrating and sweating in the equatorial sun, he gains momentum with every blow, displaying power and precision. A woman passively turns the gooey substance below. It requires skill, trust, and timing. If you do not pull (your hand) out quickly, tragedy can strike.

Fufu doesn’t discriminate. Two women can make it together (for a little girl-on-girl action), or, if you’re home all alone, you can do it by yourself.

Like other well known aphrodisiacs, fufu creates a feeling of euphoria and elation upon consumption, before it finally lulls you to sleep. When two friends…or lovers…share a bowl of fufu, it affords a pleasure/excitement that very few other dishes can provide. After all, what can be more exhilarating than dipping your hand repeatedly into a common bowl, not knowing where that other person’s hand has been? In fact, it could rightly be called the ecstasy of the culinary world, with its promiscuous promoting properties.

Fufu, we salute on making our continent proud, and look forward to ugali, tuo zafi and perhaps, chin-chinga, joining your ranks.
